I was born in a small town in southern Indiana. I grew up in LaPorte Indiana and have lived in the Chicago area for the past 26 years.
I was a machine tool designer and home compter user when I was hired by Howard Sams publishing to write software for their electronics and science books. I wrote many manuals and software products, the most notable being Macro-Mon DosPlus (Both for the Radio Shack Models I, III, and IV), and "The Programmer", the first commercially written IBM PC program written in the US.
Also being a EE, I eventually moved into developing peripherals for the IBM and on to Embedded Systems Development in the mid-1980s. Since then I have owned or been a partner in several software, telephony, and technology based companies.
I've written hundereds of articles over the past 25 years, published two books, with two more coming before the end of 2007, and speak at developer conferences all over the World. I am an avid Prolog user and promote AI in software.
Today, I write and develop educational products that promote emerging technologies and various forms of communications (Ethernet, USB, etc.) and the use of AI in Embedded Systems Development.
